This is one of a series of identification guides for small arms. The holster is marked on the back "gcx/1941" with a single WaA665 Waffenamt with "PO8" marked in the upper right hand corner.Luger Proof/Acceptance Mark Identification Guide (1898-1945) It is complete with a standard WWII late production German luger holster. This pistol has the standard rough, wartime Erfurt machined finish and wartime blue as compared to the DWM luger and has the correct straw color on the small parts. The pistol has the correct wood base, nickel plated magazine that is numbered to the pistol. It has the last two digits of the serial number on all the small parts. The underside and top area of the barrel has the standard barrel markings and Erfurt acceptance proofs. The left side of the barrel extension has the Crown over Script proofs next to the German Imperial acceptance proof. The top of the chamber area is marked 1916 for the date of manufacture and the front toggle assembly is marked "ERFURT" for the German Arsenal where it was produced. These were the standard pistol used by all German forces from 1914-1945. This is an excellent example of a military Luger pistol as manufactured by the Erfurt Arsenal.
